Liang Zhao is a PhD student in Biomedical Informatics at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). His research focuses on AI-driven clinical decision support and continuous physiological monitoring, with particular interests in multimodal data integration and acute care applications.
Liang brings nearly twenty years of software engineering and systems architecture experience to his academic work. Before joining UNMC, he led engineering teams developing digital health platforms that bridged embedded sensing, distributed systems, and deep learning models. He holds a BSc with First-Class Honours in Computer Science from the University of London. At UNMC, he aims to pair robust computational engineering with applied machine learning to build dependable, clinically translatable tools for patient care.
